PRESTATYN residents enjoyed some festive fun today (November 24) as the town’s Christmas lights were switched on.
Switching on the lights at about 4.30pm, following a countdown, was mayor of Prestatyn, Cllr Bob Murray.
Enjoy the moment the town was lit up in the below video:
Led by compere Elliot Turner, the switch-on event featured live music, with pupils from Ysgol Bodnant, Penmorfa, Y Llys, Clawdd Offa, Melyd and Prestatyn High School all singing carols.
There were also performances from The Singing Strummers and Rhyl Silver Band.
Children could also received a gift from Father Christmas, who made an appearance at his grotto.
The switch-on also included a “sketch and draw” event, where people could make Christmas tree decorations.
Above, you can enjoy our photo gallery from the afternoon’s festivities.

This weekend (November 25 and 26), Prestatyn’s Winter Fest will take place for the first time; a two-day “extravaganza” to be based on the town’s High Street.
Winter Fest will include Santa’s grotto, live music, festive food and drinks, craft stalls, a market, a small fairground, and lots more family fun.
The main events on each day will take place between 10am and 4pm, with the aim of the event to “encourage shopping local”, shining a light on the town’s business owners and their services.
It has been organised by Prestatyn Town Council and Prestatyn Business Forum.
