A NURSING home in Rhyl has been praised for the “welcoming, cosy and comfortable” environment it provides for its residents, in a Care Inspectorate Wales report.

Belmont House, at 65 Russell Road, was inspected on July 28 with a report published some months later.

The residential home caters for 12 people, and received particular praise for its delivery of care and the “smooth” running of the service.

It was described as a “welcoming, cosy and comfortable” place, with visiting relatives telling inspectors the service was always “flexible, accommodating and supportive”.

The report made no recommendations for improvement, highlighting no areas of concern.

A summary of the report stated: “People are supported to achieve good wellbeing outcomes by a team of staff that know them well. Care documents are detailed and personalised and regularly reviewed.

“People are encouraged to make choices in their daily to day life and are supported to maintain positive relationships with others, including family members, residents and staff. People are encouraged to participate in a range of activities and opportunities to promote social interaction and ensure people remain happy and healthy.

“People live in a home that is suitable for their needs. The home is clean, comfortable and well maintained with good oversight of health and safety checks and infection control.

“Improvements are undertaken to ensure the upkeep and suitability of the service in meeting people’s needs. People’s bedrooms are individual and personalised and specialist equipment is available to promote people’s independence.

“There are appropriate governance arrangements in place to ensure the smooth running of the service. The responsible individual (RI) and manager have a prominent role and presence within the service and are regularly available.

“People’s views are frequently sought and addressed. Staff are appropriately recruited, skilled and trained to undertake their responsibilities competently and safely and feel happy and supported within their role.”
