SHOPPING parks based in Rhuddlan and Prestatyn have been sold to a real estate investment company based in the United States.
Clwyd Retail Park, Rhuddlan and Parc Prestatyn Shopping Park, Prestatyn were two of 11 such sites sold by Ediston Property Investment Company to investors Realty Income Corporation last month.
The deal is believed to have been worth roughly £200million.
William Hill, chairman of Ediston, said: "Having considered multiple options, and after detailed analysis, the board determined a sale of the property portfolio to Realty Income was the best means of maximising shareholder value."
The other nine retail parks involved in the deal are:
- Springkerse Retail Park, Stirling.
- Haddington Retail Park, Haddington.
- Pallion Retail Park, Sunderland.
- Widnes Shopping Park, Widnes.
- Barnsley East Retail Park, Barnsley.
- Kingston Retail Park, Hull.
- Plas Coch Retail Park, Wrexham.
- Tennent Street Retail Park, Glasgow.
- Abbey Retail Park, Daventry.
Realty Income, led by ex-investment banker Sumit Roy, has spent more than £2billion on supermarkets, DIY stores and more than 30 retail parks.
Shops at Clwyd Retail Park include Sainsbury’s, Iceland, Halfords, and B&Q.
At Parc Prestatyn, there are such stores as Boots, TK Maxx, Next, and Marks & Spencer.
