MORE than 700 sheep and lambs have been moved successfully from flooded fields to safety in Rhuddlan.
The farmyard friends are now on safe ground.
Due to river flooding at 3.20pm, Abbey farm Rhuddlan walked 700 sheep / lambs over the bridge to the farm.
People living on Castle Street, Hylas Lane and Abbey Road were warned to close their gates!
Francesca Ellis, whose mum Heather helped guide the sheep down the street, said: "Apparently 700 sheep and lambs being were moved from Abbey Farms field by river the bank (near the new Thorncliffe) down Castle Street, and then my street, Hylas Lane and then onto Abbey Road to the farm. We were pre warned by the farm.
"My mum went out to help guide them down the street."
"They are on safe ground now."
Rob Williams, of Abbey farm Rhuddlan, said: "We were keeping an eye out on river levels all morning and in constant contact with the environment agency, but time was against us as it would have taken six hours to move them by trailer. The decision was made pretty quickly to run them through the village.
"I’m happy now that they’re home safe."
Rob's wife Celia said: "The sheep are all in lamb so moving them to safe ground was vital and we knew taking them through the village would be a challenge but it went smoothly and was lovely to have so many people helping us out, but that’s the beauty of village life."
