A PERSON was who left stuck in mud at a beach near Prestatyn was brought to safety on Saturday (September 23).

This was at Talacre Beach, with Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team alerted to the report on Saturday morning.

With the help of the Coastguard team, and crew members from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), the person was rescued from the mud.

Rhyl Coastguard said: “An enjoyable birthday stroll with the family on the beach quickly turned to near-disaster, when the unsuspecting victim stumbled into a patch of mud, resulting in them becoming firmly stuck.

“A quick 999 call to the Coastguard Operations Centre at Holyhead set the wheels into motion, with ourselves and Flint Coastguard Rescue Team proceeding to the scene, and the hovercraft from RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat Station flying across the estuary.

“The casualty was quickly located and mud rescue technicians deployed to extricate the casualty with as minimum of a fuss as possible.

“The casualty was recovered to a place of safety and reunited with thankful family members.”

Those who become stuck in the mud at a beach are advised to spread their weight, try not to struggle, and request assistance from the Coastguard.

Bystanders should also be discouraged from intervening.
