A POPULAR cheese shop in Prestatyn has been selected as one of the nation’s 100 most impressive small firms by the Small Business Saturday UK campaign.

The Little Cheesemonger, a specialist artisan cheese and local produce shop, was founded by Gemma Williams in 2017.

Following a nationwide search it has been chosen as part of this year’s SmallBiz100 line-up, which showcases a line-up of 100 of the most inspiring independent businesses from across the nation.

Small Business Saturday will return on December 2, with a mission to support and celebrate the UK’s five and half million small businesses.

With small firms facing huge challenges due to the cost-of-living crisis, the campaign is more vital than ever as it moves into its second decade in the UK.

"Receiving the recognition as one of the SmallBiz100 is a tremendous honour for us,” said Gemma.

“We're absolutely delighted and will continue to fly the flag for outstanding cheese and Welsh produce."

Ms Williams will be profiled by the campaign on November 10 as part of the 100-day countdown to Small Business Saturday UK.

Michelle Ovens CBE, director of Small Business Saturday UK, said: “It’s fantastic to celebrate The Little Cheesemonger as part of this year’s campaign.

“The impressive small businesses featured in this year’s SmallBiz100 sum up the phenomenal contribution that small firms make to our economy and local communities.”

Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies said: "The Little Cheesemonger is a specialised business providing quality goods and a first-rate service to the people of Prestatyn and beyond.

"Gemma founded this business in Rhuddlan back in 2017 and since that time has received multiple awards.

"To now be among the select 100 businesses chosen nationwide for this year's SmallBiz100 Campaign, celebrating inspirational entrepreneurs from across the UK, is a huge deal and I congratulate Gemma on this remarkable achievement.

"We are extremely fortunate to have such a successful business, providing quality goods, on our doorstep and I would encourage all those who haven't already experienced the delicious variety of specialised cheeses, and other produce from independent producers and suppliers, available at The Little Cheesemonger to call in some time."

Small Business Saturday is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which celebrates small business success and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and to support businesses in their communities.

On Small Business Saturday customers across the UK go out and support all types of small businesses.

Many small businesses take an active role in promoting the day by hosting events and offering promotions.
