RHYL Air Show is less than a week away from making its return to the town, with the Red Arrows among its main attractions once again.

As one of North Wales’ biggest free events, the show will also boast a range of land-based attractions and entertainment, as well as the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the Strikemaster, and more.

This year’s schedule is as follows:

Saturday, August 26

2pm – The Fairey Swordfish

2.30pm – Harvard

3pm - RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (Lancaster/Hurricane/Spitfire)

3.30pm – Calidus Autogyro

4pm – Strikemaster Pair

4.30pm – RAF Red Arrows Aerobatic Display Team

Sunday, August 27

Display times are approximate and weather-dependent, and are subject to change.

The ground display includes a military village at Rhyl Events Arena, as well as a wide range of stalls, attractions and food concessions spanning all the way to the Pavilion Theatre.

Rhyl Air Show is situated on the town’s seafront, next to the Pavilion Theatre, with the outdoor activities based primarily at Rhyl Events Arena.

Though rail strikes are due to take place on Saturday, Transport for Wales trains will still be running, though are expected to be busier than usual.

If you’re going to drive to the air show, you can use any of the following car parks:

  • Central Car Park (underground): LL18 1HD
  • Morley Road: LL18 3HG
  • West Kinmel Street: LL18 1DA
  • Royal Alex Hospital, Marine Drive: LL18 3AS
  • White Rose Shopping Centre: LL18 1EW (closes at 7pm each night)

Residents living nearby are encouraged to walk to the event if possible.

Forecasts are predicting temperatures in the low-20s for both days of the event.

The town’s 1891 bar and restaurant, adjacent to the Pavilion Theatre, is also providing “gold and silver packages” for the event, including live commentary of the air show, reserved terrace viewing, and more.

It will also host after-parties on both days of the air show.

“Rhyl town centre and Events Arena are always buzzing with excitement, and to have both the Red Arrows over both days again this year is just amazing.

“We can’t wait to welcome visitors and locals to Rhyl and the Denbighshire coast to enjoy this award-winning show.”
