A SEAL that lay dead on a Towyn beach for more than a week has finally been removed.
A grey seal washed up on the beach close to the Millers Cottage Caravan Park on the evening of August 8, with a resident saying it looked like it had been “attacked”.
The resident who stumbled upon the poor sea mammal said the situation at the time was “very disturbing”.
The person was informed that the seal was too decomposed for an autopsy to be undertaken, and that the matter will be passed on to the local authority, who are liable for public welfare.

But despite several people reporting the case to the local authority, this was not acted on until Wednesday morning (August 16), more than a week after it was discovered.
The seal has now been removed, with the North Wales Seal Research Organisation (NWSRO) saying the animal would be tracked for conservation purposes.
A Conwy County Borough Council spokesperson said: “We received an email about a dead seal on the beach in Towyn.
“Staff went out this morning (16/08/23) to remove the carcass.
“People can tell the Council directly about issues like this by using the Environment, Roads and Facilities Report It map on our website erf.reporting.conwy.gov.uk.
“This will send a message to the team responsible for action.”
Grey seals are common in UK waters, with the British number representing 40 per cent of the world's population, according to The Wildlife Trusts.
