YESTERDAY’S Denbigh & Flint Show proved hugely popular, with thousands of people from across North Wales and the rest of the UK in attendance.
The country show, which dates back to the 1800s, saw more a record breaking number of entries, including 912 horse entries across the classes, with a record 35 in the heavy horses section.
The cattle tent was at capacity with 100 entries, and with strong numbers showcased in the fur and feather section, despite bird flu concerns meaning no poultry was at the event.
A huge sheep section delighted crowds, with a sheep shearing competition later in the day drawing a large number of spectators.
A popular vintage section showcased tractors, machinery and classic cars, with cars such as Austin Healeys and Triumph Stags, in pristine condition, a throwback to a bygone era.
The vintage area also celebrated 75 years of Land Rover and Nuffield Universal, and 90 years of Fordson N Dagenham, with lines of these particular brands out in force.
A horticultural marquee containing the best flowers and vegetables, as decided on the day, while the pigeon and poultry stand also invited rabbits and guinea pigs.
A pigs section saw winners from across the region, including Gwynedd, and light horse classes, show jumping (in three rings), and a heavy horses competition took place.
Thrill seekers were in for a treat in the main ring, with Stannage Stunt Team performing a series of jumps, tricks and fire-themed acts, including motorbike jumps, fire runs, high falls, flaming high dives, quad stunts, and the exploding coffin.

A hunt dog show, inter hunt relay and parades for both vintage machinery and vintage cars finished at the main ring, with the well-known Shetland Pony Grand National helping to round off the day.
Familiar attractions include the food festival, hundreds of trade stands, and the fairground, where rides delighted adrenaline junkies.
The Bwyellwyr Clwyd Axemen put on a show, with log-cutting competitions and techniques on full display as members of all ages put hard work in.
Cllr Mark Young, whose ward the show was held in, said all involved with the show could be proud of their achievements.
“Wow, what a show and without doubt it’s now back with a bang,” said Mr Young.
“It was obviously difficult coming back from the pandemic, but after today’s huge success everyone involved can give themselves a big slap on their backs for organising a show that can compete with any other show in Wales.”
