PIZZA chain “Papa Johns” is set to be the next occupants of a currently vacant unit of a shopping park in Rhyl.
In March, it was confirmed that units 10 and 11 at the town’s Marina Quay Shopping Park will be filled by two fast food companies.
Popular chicken franchise “Pepe’s Piri Piri” will take unit 11, and is hoping to open its store in September, and Papa Johns looks likely to be its new neighbours.
Last August, an application from Papa Johns to make “minor external alterations to the shopfront, side and rear elevations” of unit 10 was approved by Denbighshire County Council’s planning committee.
Though, when contacted by the Journal on Friday (August 11), a spokesperson on behalf of Papa Johns said it is only able to comment on its stores which have already opened.

Extracts from the planning application read: “The proposed external alterations will bring a vacant unit into use and stimulate economic activity within the retail park, helping to drive footfall.
“Internally, whilst not part of this application, it is noted that the unit will undergo a full fit-out to facilitate the pizza delivery operation.”
Should it indeed open at Marina Quay, Papa Johns will join the likes of B&M, Aldi, and The Range at the site.
An official opening date for Pepe’s Piri Piri has yet to be confirmed, but signage has begun to be erected at the site.
Multi-award-winning contractor Cardon Property & Construction started internal refurbishment works on units 10 and 11 in March, with a project value of circa £200,000.
As the principal contractor, it carried out structural works to the units including new calls, installation of new stop fronts, and energy installations.
John Carrig, managing director of Cardon Property & Construction, said: “It is great to see more units taken on this shopping park and the two new additions will really add a boost to the site.
“Cardon has a vast amount of experience in retail fit-outs, and we are delighted to be involved in this refurbishment project.”
