A NATIONAL Piri-Piri chicken franchise is aiming to open a new store at a retail park in Rhyl in September.

“Pepe’s Piri Piri” will fill the vacant unit 11 at the town’s Marina Quay Shopping Park, with the company aiming to welcome customers from next month.

In July, Pepe’s had said that it hoped to open its Rhyl store in August, but this has been slightly put back amid “challenges to overcome”.

An official opening date has yet to be confirmed, but signage has begun to be erected at the site.

A Pepe’s spokesperson said: “We still have a few milestones to meet and some challenges to overcome before we can announce an opening date.

“We would have liked to open this month, but (it is) most likely to be next month now.”

Another as yet unnamed popular takeaway is due to be filling a unit adjacent to that which Pepe’s Piri Piri is taking on.

They will join the likes of B&M, Aldi, and The Range at the site.

“Pepe’s Piri Piri”, with has more than 150 stores in the UK, had its plans for the Rhyl site approved by Denbighshire County Council last summer.

The restaurant will feature up to 30 seats for diners and will create up to 16 job opportunities.

Contractors Cardon Property & Construction started internal refurbishment works on the two available units in March.
