THE owner of a nursery in Prestatyn was the recipient of a special prize at national awards ceremony last month.
Tina Jones MBE, of Tiny Tots Day Nursery on Meliden Road, was one of three people to receive a “Shining Star” accolade at the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) awards.
These awards were held in Coventry on Friday, June 9.
The “Shining Star” prize was a recognition award to celebrate achievements and commitment to NDNA and the early years sector.

Tina, who has been a NDNA trustee for more than two decades, has owned Tiny Tots for 51 years and continues to oversee its efforts to provide high-quality care and surroundings for the children that attend.
She also served as mayor of Prestatyn and Meliden for the 2022-23 civic year.
A statement from Tiny Tots read: “Although we know Tina's greatest reward is seeing our children thrive and grow during that time with us, it is always an honour to be recognised.
“All at Tiny Tots are extremely proud of you, Tina.”
Tina opened Tiny Tots in October 1972 at the age of 17, with her vision to “create a happy, healthy environment for all children”.
The nursery used to operate on one level but after a major expansion in 1995, it now has an additional out-of-school, self-contained building.
When it first opened, the nursery had capacity for 17 children, but across all of its sites, Tiny Tots can offer now places to up to 110.
Tiny Tots is also registered to provide Flying Start sessions, 30 free hours’ childcare scheme, and Early Years education funding.
The nursery sits within five acres of extensive grounds, with an outdoor classroom fit for all weather conditions, a yurt and a treehouse all found outside.
