  • Popular 1970s band Heatwave.
  • Edwin Starr Band featuring Angelo Starr.
  • Northern soul live DJs.
  • Jackie Marie Motown tribute act.

Gates will open at 12pm, and those attending should allow extra time for bag checks by trained security staff on entry.

People are asked not to bring their own alcohol, as a bar will be available within the arena; food and drink can also not be brought into the venue.

Glass bottles, including perfumes, will be confiscated, while standard and accessible toilets will be located within the arena.

Fold-up furniture is permitted, but will be restricted to an allocated area.

Under 16s attending must be accompanied by an adult.

Popular funk/disco band Heatwave came into international success in the mid-‘70s and ‘80s, known for such hits as “Boogie Nights,” “Always and Forever” and “The Groove Line”.

Angelo Starr, brother of the late Edwin Starr will also be presenting a soul and Motown party, having taken on lead vocals in Edwin Starr’s original band.

Jamie Groves, DLL managing director, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to host an event for residents, and visitors to Denbighshire, which is free to attend, particularly in the current economic climate.

“As a company, it’s important for us to make the best use of the fantastic facilities on our doorstep.

“The Events Arena in Rhyl is the perfect outdoor venue for this type of event, with ample parking close by, and the arena only a stone’s throw away from our flagship 1891 restaurant and terrace bar.”

Rhyl mayor, Cllr Jacquie McAlpine, added: “You can be certain this up-tempo music and soulful singers featuring an array of talented performers and DJs from this music genre will be an afternoon of rhythmical, uplifting entertainment recreating the sounds of soul that lives on today.”
