THE Rhyl Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) crew was alerted to the launch of an emergency position-indicating radio beacon yesterday afternoon (July 27).
RNLI Hoylake was also alerted to it, which Holyhead Coastguard Co-ordinating Centre received at about 1.30pm yesterday.
The lifeboats, together with the Coastguard rescue helicopter from Caernarfon, searched the area by Mostyn and Point of Ayr until a message came through that the signal had come from an item inland.
All units were then stood down, with the Rhyl lifeboat returning to its station by 4.30pm.
