JOURNAL readers have shared their hopes for the future of a unit left vacant at Rhyl’s White Rose Centre after New Look’s closure earlier this week.

The clothes shop shut its doors in the town for good on July 25, saying: “We would like to thank our colleagues and customers in the local area for shopping with us over the years.”

But the White Rose Centre said it has already had “discussions with potential tenants” to replace it.

Rhyl’s White Rose Centre eyeing 'potential tenants’ as New Look closes

Taking to the Journal’s Facebook page, residents have offered their thoughts on what should take its place.

Amy Johnsen suggested a new Primark store, saying: “Take over the old Superdrug and Iceland and make a massive Primark, and a lot of people will come into Rhyl for that.”

Iceland left the shopping centre in March, while Superdrug’s store left the site last summer.

Kaz Cook said: “Early Learning Centre toy shops,” while Bugsy Lee added: “A laundry service for the homeless, or even a hostel.”

Colin Clayton wrote: “A good party decoration/wedding shop would be good,” with Susan Whitehead saying: “a fruit and veg shop”.

Amy Leigh suggested: “A small market with a butchers, greengrocers and flowers.”

A spokesperson for the White Rose Centre told the Journal earlier this week: “This unit occupies a prime position on the High Street at the main entrance to the shopping centre.

“We would hope to find a new occupier soon, and are in discussions with potential tenants.”
