Previous Prestatyn town criers include John McGowan and the late Dennis Bone, who had served in the police force for many years.
The town crier will represent Prestatyn and its residents in events both in and out of the town.
A town council spokesperson said: “mayor of Prestatyn and Meliden, Cllr Bob Murray is very much looking forward to the council having a town crier to promote and shout about the amazing things that are done throughout both Prestatyn and Meliden, not just by the Town Council, but the local groups, organisations, businesses, and the many, many wonderful volunteers and residents.”
