AN ADVENTURE centre and indoor water park has decided to "postpone" the opening of its outdoor 'splash' area.

SC2, which is located on West Parade in Rhyl, posted on Facebook on Wednesday, July 19 that due to the "stormy weather predicted for the weekend", a decision had been made to "postpone" the opening of the 'splash pad' until the following week.

The outdoor splash pad at Rhyl's SC2, which is centred around a paddling pool, has not been open for some time.

Despite glorious sunny weather in May, the attraction failed to open the outdoor play area.

The business claimed at the time that the opening of the splash pad had been delayed due to the "programming of works that are taking place on the promenade" and "ongoing external sea defence works."

They posted on their SC2 Facebook page today (July 19): "With the stormy weather predicted for this weekend, we have taken the decision to postpone the opening of the Splash Pad to next week.

"We will assess the situation on Monday and if the weather is on our side, we hope to open the Splash Pad next week!

"We cannot wait to start celebrating the Summer with you all at SC2!"

The Met Office have predicted "sunshine and showers" for Rhyl over the weekend.

The Met Office forecast: "A mixture of sunshine and showers on Friday. Turning increasingly unsettled over the weekend with outbreaks of rain accompanied by stronger winds.

"Feeling rather cool under any persistent rain."

The East Rhyl coastal defence scheme officially opened on Thursday, May 25.

Central Rhyl and Central Prestatyn coastal defence schemes are currently under construction.

Children break up for the summer holidays this week in Conwy and Denbighshire.

Residents took to Facebook to voice their views about the delayed opening.

One person commented: "You should have opened in May/June when it was actually hot."
