AN ARTIST has stepped in the save the day for Prestatyn in Bloom, helping to cover arson damage to summer bedding.
The town is to be judged in the Wales in Bloom competition this week, but one of the summer planters on the High Street was set on fire in a ‘very obvious’ position earlier this year.
But Denbigh artist Judith Samuel stepped in to help, allowing the organisers use of one of her watercolour posters to cover the hardboard covering the damage.
A Friends of Prestatyn Railway Station spokesperson said: “Earlier this year one of our planters in the High Street was set on fire, just after we had planted up the summer bedding.

“The planter will have to be replaced at the end of the summer and we're intending to replace it with an inflammable material.
“It's in a very obvious position in the High Street - and something needed to be done.
“Judith has stepped in and kindly agreed that we may use one of her fabulous posters to discard the hardboard we are using to hide the damaged side of the planter.
“It should look spectacular and the judge will love the fact that we are using local talent.”
Prestatyn in Bloom have asked if they can take the judge to the station as his first port of call when he judges the town's entry in the competition, because they want him to have the ‘wow’ factor.
It could have been a very different reaction if Judith hadn't stepped in to help.
