DENBIGHSHIRE residents struggling to secure a job can get employment and skills support through Denbighshire County Council's “Working Denbighshire” service.
Since its inception in 2017, Working Denbighshire has helped more than 440 people to find employment and has helped a further 422 people gain qualifications, work related certificates, or helped them into full-time education.
Working Denbighshire offer many elements of support such as life skills, confidence and motivation, training and courses, job searching, CV writing, interview skills, learning job techniques and completing job applications.
The service promotes the importance of work to help people live healthier and more independent lives, alongside building their future financial resilience and wellbeing.
Denbighshire residents are able to access ongoing support from the team and gain invaluable workplace skills and knowledge on their journey towards employment.
As well as offering training to learn new skills and gain qualifications, Working Denbighshire can also assist with funding to help with courses and paid and unpaid work experience placements.
The team were recently visited by shadow employment minister, Alison McGovern.
Guided by both the leader and deputy leader of the council, the MP for Wirral South was shown around Working Denbighshire’s Rhyl office, and met a business that has benefitted greatly from the scheme.
On the visit, the minister said: “I am so glad to have visited Working Denbighshire and see the good work the council does to support the wellbeing and financial security of Denbighshire residents.”
Cllr Jason McLellan, council leader and lead member for economic growth and tackling deprivation, said: “The Working Denbighshire scheme has helped hundreds of people since its launch and is a massive asset to the county.
“The council is very proud to be able to offer this service which helps to tackle poverty through helping with employment opportunities.
“The service model is nationally recognised, and it is great that we can provide a taste of the great work it does.
“With the increase in the cost of living, it is important for the council to be able to provide this vital service to the residents of Denbighshire.
“The help offered by this service is free, and I would urge anyone who is looking for help with employment or training to get in touch with the team.”
