THE comedian, Roy “Chubby” Brown, will not be returning to the Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl next year after his management was allegedly told his act does not align with the venue’s “inclusive programme”.

Having performed at the theatre on numerous occasions, including last month, it appears the comic will not be back there in 2024, despite his management having attempted to book a date at the Pavilion Theatre next year.

A statement from the 78-year-old’s tour manager, Ritchie Hoyle, read: “I’m sorry to say Roy will not be returning to Rhyl Pavilion.

“We asked for a 2024 date after this year’s show and received this (below statement) back from the venue.

“I will look for another venue in the area who will hopefully host the show.”

In a Facebook post, shared along with a picture postcard of Rhyl, his management claimed that Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL), the company responsible for the Pavilion Theatre, said he “no longer fits” with its plans for the venue.

According to the post, a DLL spokesperson told his management: “After careful consideration, we have taken the decision that the ‘Chubby Brown’ show no longer fits with our future plans for the theatre, or the inclusive programme we aim to offer.”

This comes a week after a similar post on the comedian’s Facebook page which stated that, “due to local negativity and complaints”, Roy “Chubby” Brown would not be invited back to the Lyceum Theatre in Crewe.

Last summer, his show at The Platform in Morecambe was cancelled by Lancaster City Council for not being "compatible" with its values.

Roy “Chubby” Brown is known for wearing flying goggles and eccentric outfits, as well as his politically incorrect jokes.

Denbighshire Leisure Ltd has been approached for further comment.
