A MEDICAL clinic in Prestatyn has suffered the loss of three of its GPs.
Healthy Prestatyn/Healthy Rhuddlan Iach, based on Nant Hall Road, is in the process of recruiting replacements for the GPs, who filled two full-time positions between them.
In the meantime, Rhyl-based Clarence Medical Centre has stepped in to provide “interim support” for the surgery.
Alison Kemp, associate director of primary care and community services (central), said: “Three of our GPs at Healthy Prestatyn/Healthy Rhuddlan Iach, who between them cover two full-time equivalent posts, are moving to new roles, and we are currently recruiting to fill their posts.
“The practice continues to be staffed by seven GPs working alongside occupational therapists, advanced nurse practitioners and pharmacists, as well as other clinical and support staff.
“The hard-working staff of Healthy Prestatyn/Healthy Rhuddlan Iach will continue to provide the best service possible to its patients and ensure patients are cared for appropriately.
"Clarence Medical Centre will offer interim support to maintain services while we recruit to the vacant GP posts.”

Ms Kemp extended her gratitude to Clarence Medical Centre for their support.
She also re-assured the practice’s patients that “care is not affected” while replacements are sought.
“Patients under our care should not see any changes to service performance and support they receive,” she said.
“We are grateful to the staff of Clarence Medical Centre for their support over this period and ensuring patient care is not affected.
“This work with a neighbouring surgery demonstrates the ethos of cluster working - strengthening resilience and practices working together for the whole of North Denbighshire.
“As throughout the year, we ask patients to utilise the most appropriate level of service to ensure they receive the most suitable care – information regarding primary care services can be found on our website or on ‘Surgery App’.”
