PRESTATYN in Bloom has been successful in obtaining a grant of £5,336 from the Gwynt y Mor Windfarm Community Fund.

The organisation brings together like-minded people in the town for the common purpose of improving and enhancing its environment.

It will use this funding to help make the town a better place to live, work, visit and enjoy, and to enhance its diverse natural habitats.

The Gwynt y Mor funding is a long-term investment of £19million across the windfarm’s lifetime, and helps communities of Conwy, Denbighshire and Flintshire.

The fund is independently administered by Community and Voluntary Support Conwy (CVSC), in co-operation with Denbighshire and Flintshire Councils for Voluntary Services.

Chair of Prestatyn in Bloom, the Vale of Clwyd MP, James Davies, said: “This funding is very welcome indeed and will greatly benefit our work in the town.

“Prestatyn in Bloom is about much more than just floral displays. We have a dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure that our town is clean, attractive and welcoming for both locals and visitors.

“This funding will go a long way to helping us continue and expand the work we are currently doing.”

Carol Evans, treasurer of Prestatyn in Bloom, said: “We are delighted to receive this funding from the Gwynt y Mor Windfarm Community Fund, which will help us greatly with our ongoing work in the town.

“The High Street in Prestatyn has been the location of many town centre events, including celebrations of the various Royal Jubilees, His Majesty the King’s Coronation, as well as Christmas markets.

“These are all events particularly enjoyed by the residents of the town. This funding will help us to continue to ensure that the High Street always looks its best.

“Friends of Coronation Gardens and Friends of the Ffrith will also benefit from the funding and have plans to enhance the areas they voluntarily look after so diligently.

“It is hoped the projects will encourage visitor numbers whilst also providing residents with a pride in their town.”

The group welcomes anybody who may wish to join their volunteer workforce as it dedicates its time to improving the appearance of the town.
