CONFUSION has arisen after a takeaway in Rhyl appeared to take a similar name to that of a similar establishment in Prestatyn.
“The Best Kebab & Pizza”, on Prestatyn High Street, noticed that “Best Kebab & Pizza” had appeared on the Clwyd Eats food delivery platform.
The address of “Best Kebab & Pizza” was listed as 36 Water Street, Rhyl, which was that of Corfu Kebab House.

In fact, Corfu Kebab House has been taken on by new owners, who subsequently changed its name.
Alihan and Havva Nur Akyüz, who are both children of the owner of Prestatyn’s “The Best Kebab & Pizza”, said the move has "damaged" the takeaway’s reputation.
Alihan, 20, who also works at the takeaway with his father, said: “We first noticed ‘Best Kebab & Pizza’ on Clwyd Eats a few days ago, when we started getting repeated complaints over the phone.
“Customers have said they were placing orders through Clwyd Eats and that food was not arriving, or the food that arrived was ‘caked in grease and inedible’.
“I have attempted to contact Clwyd Eats to resolve this issue; however, I am yet to receive a reply.
“The stain on our reputation is immeasurable and we are still trying to contact customers that were affected by this misunderstanding to resolve this issue.”

Likewise, Havva added: “The Best Kebab in Prestatyn was established almost 20 years ago by my dad, with a solid loyal customer base.
“We are very friendly with local kebab owners including Prestatyn and Rhyl ones, and this name change has affected us majorly, with our own loyal customers assuming that it is our shop and placing orders.
“Unfortunately, the complaints that they (should) have received, and the customers thinking it is us, have affected our sales majorly.”
In response, Suleyman Gunal, who has just taken on the Rhyl takeaway, defended the name change.
He added that there has been a delay in receiving the takeaway’s new signage, which explains why the old “Corfu Kebab House” sign remains in place outside the shop.
Suleyman said: “We took over the shop just a couple of weeks ago and are changing everything at shop now.
“We will be active on Uber and Just Eat platforms as soon as possible, and our website is already activated.
"'Best' is not registered on their name, so there is not any problem. After we found that nobody used this name in Rhyl, we decided to use it.
“There is nothing wrong and we definitely have not affected their customers; our customers can see our address and phone number online and on our menu.
“If they have any problem, they can contact us.”
Attempts were made to also contact Clwyd Eats for further comment.
