A KIND community is rallying round to support two neighbours after two homes were damaged following a fire.
The incident happened on on Ffordd Penrhwylfa in Meliden on June 3. Six appliances were tasked and one Aerial Ladder Platform. Firefighters spent several hours battling back the flames.
The blaze involved two properties; the fire happened at one property and a second house was affected.
The cause is "unknown".
Steve Evans, of Rhyl fundraising group Belief, reached out to the families after the fire.
He met up with one of the families affected to offer a cash donation.
He said: "We were so sorry to hear about this devastating fire. Everything in the house looks to be lost but thankfully no-one was hurt.
"As with all situations like this Belief try and get a cash donation to the family as soon as we possibly can hoping it will help with immediate essentials.
"We wish the family all the very best."
Octavia taxis in Prestatyn have also started a GoFundMe page - www.gofundme.com/f/Join-the-effort-to-aid-fire-displaced-family.
Rachael Wheatley, who lives in one of the two houses affected by the fire, praised the fire service for their bravery during the incident.
Rachael, who lives with her husband and their teenage son Jacob, said: "We are absolutely devastated for our neighbours and send them our love and support.
"Personally, we owe the fire service everything. They were absolutely phenomenal and couldn't have been more considerate. They explained everything and were working in such extreme conditions.
"It was, and remains, a shocking and stressful time but the fire service explained everything that was happening. They went above and beyond.
"All the emergency services involved were wonderful - the energy company, DCC, the police - family, the community, friends and colleagues - have been exceptional - everyone has been so kind. We are hugely grateful and humbled.
"The efforts of the fire service were nothing short of heroic and we will be thanking them in person again soon."
