A WOMAN has praised the firefighters who fought a blaze affecting two homes near Prestatyn.
The incident occurred in the Ffordd Penrhwylfa area of Meliden yesterday (June 3).
Five fire engines and around 30 firefighters attended the incident - and spent several hours battling back the flames.
A woman who lives in of the two houses affected by the fire has praised them for their bravery during the incident.
Rachael Wheatley, who lives with her husband and their teenage child, said she feels "lucky not have lost our home".
"We owe everything to the firefighters," she said. "They were here from 2.30pm to 9.30pm in the searing temperatures and the courage they showed was incredible. They were absolutely outstanding."
"We also want to say a huge thank you to local community who have rallied to support us and have gone above and beyond to help us."
An investigation of the fire is underway, the cause of which is currently unknown.
