THE FLOAT and Well-being Centre is set to open tomorrow evening (June 1) after months of refurbishment and renovation.

The centre, which will open at 68 High Street, is a relaxation hub offering saunas, floatation pods and ice baths.

With a range of floatation pods, an infrared sauna, and an ice bath that will sit at around three degrees, mental health and the reduction of stress will be the shop’s main aims.

The sci-fi like pods can be closed or left open, and are often set to body temperature.

The business is owned by Jade Atherton and Gregg Brighouse, one of the owners of the ice cream shop which previously occupied the site.

The duo had planned to open the centre on May 13, but delayed until everything was in place.

Gregg told the Journal: “We wanted something different, something not many may have used before or even heard of.

“The main focus is well-being, they offer so much to a variety of different people, they can help with mental health like anxiety and depression, people recovering from injury, high blood pressure, muscle and pain problems and so much more.

“They are also great for just relaxation. This should be a place where you can relax, recharge and feel totally refreshed after.”

The shop will host its open night from 4pm-7pm tomorrow, with a complementary glass of champagne on offer to those who attend.

Attendees will also be able to enter a prize draw, with a bottle of Moet and Chandon going to the lucky winner (to be announced on June 3).

Those who book online or in person between June 1 and 10 will receive a scratch card to win prizes (discount, free floats, bubbly and more).
