DESPITE the glorious weather, an outdoor 'splash pad' in Rhyl failed to open to visitors this bank holiday weekend.
The outdoor splash pad at Rhyl's SC2 is centred around a paddling pool. The water is 30cm at its deepest and is best suited for younger children, toddlers and infants.
The Rhyl attraction said that opening of the outdoor play opening had been delayed due to the "programming of works that are taking place on the promenade" and due to "ongoing external sea defence works".
The East Rhyl coastal defence scheme officially opened on Thursday (May 25) but Central Rhyl and Central Prestatyn coastal defence schemes are currently under construction.
Posting on Facebook, SC2 said: "Customer experience is extremely important to us and in order for us to ensure that our customers receive the best experience possible, we are working hard to have the outdoor Splash Pad at SC2 open for the summer holidays, if not before.
"Opening has been delayed slightly this year unfortunately due to the programming of works that are taking place on the promenade - and not knowing the full extent of the impact until fairly recently. This has all now been resolved, and we are readying everything for a summer to remember, with some exceptional events planned at the splash pad as well.
"Please keep an eye out on our social media for further updates regarding the opening of our Splash Pad.
"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we look forward to welcoming you soon."
One resident took to Facebook to voice their disappointment that the splash pad wasn't open over the bank holiday weekend and furthermore - won't open for the May half term.
They said: "Awful excuses for a attraction that would have been no doubt very busy this bank holiday weekend, what’s the point in having it when you can’t even get it open for the good weather?"
SC2 replied: "This is down to ongoing external sea defence works happening on Rhyl Promenade and is not down to the site itself.
