POLICE are investigating an incident involving a fire on grassland in Kinmel Bay yesterday (May 21).
This was near Glascoed Avenue, with North Wales Police alerted to the incident shortly after 3.30pm.
A witness told the Journal that there were “two-feet-high flames” and “thick smoke billowing” as a result.
It is believed to have been started deliberately.

The witness said: “There was a fire in the tall grassy area by the cycle path on the prom on Sandy Cove at about 3.30pm.
“There were two-feet-high flames at one point, with thick smoke billowing down the road.

“But the fast actions of some locals managed to stop it from spreading and put it out.
“The fire brigade came a few minutes later to put the hose on the remaining smoke.”
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: “We received a call at 3.37pm from colleagues at North Wales Fire and Rescue Service informing us of a fire on scrubland near to Glascoed Avenue, Kinmel Bay.
“The incident is currently under investigation.”
A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 3.29pm to Glascoed Avenue, Rhyl.
"We used once hose reel jet to tackle a fire affecting 4sqm of gorse and grassland. The fire was thought to be started deliberately."
