A MAN from Rhyl is to open a second-hand appliances shop in the town as a way of celebrating the life of his late uncle.

Freddy Tierney, who also runs an e-cigarette stand in Rhyl’s White Rose Centre, hopes to open “Freddy’s Odds and Ends” in a couple of months’ time.

It will be situated at 183 Wellington Road, next to The Sun Inn.

Rhyl pub set to re-open under new owner after months of closure

His uncle Eddie, who sadly died several years ago, ran a similar shop in Rhyl called “Eddie’s Odds and Ends”.

Freddy said: “My uncle played a massive part in my younger life and in my business career.

“It’s going to be a second-hand appliances shop, selling things like washing machines, cookers… exactly the same as that which my uncle had, further down Wellington Road, all those years ago.

“I’m hoping to get it open in the next two to three months, fingers crossed.”

Freddy also has his own building company, while his cousin runs First Choice Domestic Appliances, further down Wellington Road.

He is also the new owner of “The Glanglasfor”, a pub just off Rhyl’s High Street, which he hopes to re-open later this year having been closed since November.

His e-cigarette stand has been based at the White Rose Centre for 10 years.

“Through my own building company, we get a lot of second-hand items like cookers, washing machines and fridge freezers when we’re renovating properties,” he added.

“Some of them are knackered, but some are really good stuff. I just thought it might make a nice little business idea to put them in the shop, and do what my uncle used to do 40-odd years ago.”
