ENTREPRENEURS in Rhyl have been given the chance to promote their businesses for free on a large digital screen in the centre of the town.

Rhyl BID (Business Improvement District) has partnered with Alight Media for a six-month pilot to allow our Rhyl businesses to be featured on the digital screen, and to populate it with more content relevant to the town.

The screen is located by the town’s train station, on the side of the Salisbury’s building on Brighton Road.

Already, the scheme has received such a positive response that new enquiries have had to be paused.

Rhyl BID will work with Alight Media to manage ad placement, depending on uptake, but you can still get in touch to find out more about the scheme by emailing manager@rhylbid.com.

The adverts will be shown in rotation on the digital screen between 9am and 7pm.

Abby Pilling, Rhyl BID manager, said: "Rhyl BID is excited to be able to bring this promotional opportunity to our local businesses, in partnership with Alight Media.

“We have had a fantastic response to this, with over 40 local businesses having already expressed interest in taking part.

“We are looking forward to helping the business create their unique ads.”

Rhyl BID is a business-led partnership created through a ballot process to deliver additional services to enterprises in the town.

A BID is an area in which a levy is charged on all business rate payers in addition to the business rates bill.

This levy is used to develop projects which will benefit businesses in the area.

Les Peake, of Coastal Taxis, essentially brought the digital media board to Rhyl, as Alight Media rents the space from him.

He added: "There used to be the old-fashioned advertising board there. Alight Media brought in the digital space as it’s the best advertising space in Rhyl.

"It will be good that Rhyl BID are advertising local businesses trying to generate more business to local companies.

"This will increase job opportunities which, in turn, will bring more money into more businesses, and will lift the vibe in the local area.
