A PERSON was taken to hospital following a fire at a flat in Rhyl late last night (May 12).

This took place on Seabank Road, with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Welsh Ambulance Service and North Wales Police all believed to have been in attendance.

The casualty was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan.

A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a flat fire at Seabank Road, Rhyl, at 10.58pm on May 12.

"Two male casualties were taken out by crews – one was given a precautionary check at the scene, and another was taken to hospital for treatment."

"The cause of the fire was cooking left unattended."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We received a call from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service at 11.16pm.

“We sent two land ambulances and a duty operational manager.

“One ambulance transferred to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. The other ambulance was not required at the scene.”

Mark Weaver, a witness who took the attached photo, said: “At about 11.30pm last night, I saw flashing lights.

“So, I headed down to see what was wrong, when a person was being worked on by a paramedic.

“I saw two fire crews, two ambulances, and six police cars. People were being evacuated from a building.”

Attempts have been made to contact North Wales Police for further comment.
