POLICE carried out foot patrols and checks outside a school in Rhyl on Tuesday (May 9) during closing time.

Officers spoke to drivers outside Ysgol Llywelyn, on Trellewelyn Road, who were parking on yellow lines and white zig zags.

They were informed by police of the laws regarding it and the safety issues that arise from them parking there.

These include the lack of visibility of children, the build-up of traffic, and the blocking of “blue light” runs.

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: “Most people we spoke to were happy to see us, and they said they would like to see us do this more often.

“Nobody wants to be the one that causes an accident involving a child and nobody wants their child getting injured.

“Please be considerate to pedestrians, other motorists and local residents.

“Make use of the Ysgol Llywelyn drop off/pick up point, a one way drive-through system in their car park.”
