DENBIGHSHIRE County Council have teamed up with Rhyl business PKS Watersports to help provide the public with a sand friendly wheelchair.
Wheelchair users can often struggle to manoeuvre through the sand and stones, and this can limit the users’ access to enjoying the pleasures of the beach.
Wheelchairs have previously been available by booking in advance through Rhyl Harbour Office, but thanks to an agreement to team up with PKS Watersports, users now have the opportunity to hire a chair on weekends and bank holidays also.

Councillor Elen Heaton, Lead Member for Health and Social Care said: “Going to the beach is an experience that everyone should be able to enjoy.
“It is great that we have been able to team up with a local business, PKS Watersports, to improve accessibility for those who may need it in time for summer.
It’s important that everyone has the opportunity to share a sunny day at the beach with friends and family.”
Simon Jones from PKS Watersports said: "PKS Watersport dedicates our time sharing our love for Watersports. It’s our absolute pleasure to be able to help any individual access our beach and share new memories with family and friends, it’s a joy to see the happiness they bring.”
The chair is available to hire from PKS Watersports, and for further information regarding the chairs, members of the public can contact either PKS Watersports on 01745770723 or the Rhyl Harbour Office.
