A MEMBER of the Welsh Guards from Rhyl has won a national title at the 2023 Welsh Elite Boxing Championships in Cardiff.

Joe Wright, 23, earned the men’s 60kg weight category title after a unanimous decision victory against Ethan Jones on April 28.

He had previously been a winner at the same championships at junior level when he was 13.

Following his success, Joe will now go on to represent the Army in the Tri Nations Championships at the end of May.
