RHYL Rugby Club has revealed plans for a new stand and training facilities.
The club moved from their previous locations at Y Waen, Rhuddlan, and Vale Road, Rhyl, to a new, purpose-built facility on Tynewydd Road, Rhyl, at the end of 2018.
But the club say they’ve outgrown the facilities and have now submitted a planning application to Denbighshire County Council for a new stand and an indoor training barn.
Anthony Evans submitted the application on behalf of the club, including plans for a new function room, an extension to the meeting room, offices, and storage space.
The plans also include a staff WC, a cellar, plant room, kitchen, and parking spaces.

In a planning statement, the club explained the reasoning for the expansion.
“The (current) facility was built according to the funding available and was reduced in size owing to a restricted budget,” the statement reads.
“Consequently, it was always likely to struggle for capacity over time. However, the success of the premises and use by members, other organisations, and the general public alike has meant that the club has already outgrown the current facility.
“The intention is to extend the existing premises to provide a training barn with changing rooms, showers and store, and a further function room by redeveloping the existing changing rooms and shower facilities.
“The provision of the additional function room would allow greater access to local groups and alleviate the current necessity to turn down bookings.”
The training barn will be used by the club on weekday evenings and by schools, community groups, and other sports organisations 9 am – 5 pm Monday – Friday and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
The club revealed the expansion work will take place in two phases.
The plans will see the number of full-time jobs at the club increase from 15 to 20 and the number of part-time positions increase from six to 10.
A survey at the site has concluded the development is unlikely to cause any noise to nearby properties.
The plans will be discussed at a future Denbighshire planning committee meeting.
