A CHOIR for people living with or alongside dementia performed for the first time in front of a packed audience in Bodewlyddan.

Forget-me-not Chorus (FMNC) hosts weekly singing sessions in care homes, communities and hospitals to bring the joy of singing to people living with dementia, and those who support them.

FMNC's North Wales community sessions have welcomed new members to Saturday afternoon events at Bodelwyddan Village Hall near Rhyl.

There, more than 25 members put on an emotional, rousing show for more than 30 guests last weekend.

The choir sang a selection of Welsh classics including Calon Lan, Green Green Grass of Home and Sosban Fach, as well as hits from The Carpenters and more.

FMNC North Wales session co-ordinator, Toby Fagan, said: "It was a wonderful afternoon and we are so thankful to everyone who came along to support us.

"We have grown from just a handful of members and hope more will join us throughout the year because this is a fantastic way to make friends in a warm, welcoming environment.

"Everyone sang so well, from the bottom of their hearts, and it was a great way for us to demonstrate the hard work and fun we have had as a group over past months."

Sessions take place every week and are a fun way to meet other people who know what it's like living with or alongside dementia, lift spirits and enjoy the many benefits of music.

FMNC chief executive, Kate Woolveridge, added: "We hope more families living with dementia will come and join us for an uplifting couple of hours of joy and laughter every Saturday."
