A PERSON has been hit by a train at Prestatyn.

The incident happened earlier today (Wednesday, April 26) sometime after midday on the service running between Chester and Rhyl.

National Rail tweeted at 1.05pm: "A person has been hit by a train between Chester and Rhyl. To allow the emergency services to attend to the scene, all lines are currently blocked between these stations. 

"Trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised as a result."

Transport for Wales tweeted: "Due to a person being hit by a train at Prestatyn, the line is blocked.

"Train services running through this station may be cancelled or delayed."

Routes affected include Avanti West Coast between London Euston and Holyhead and Transport for Wales between Cardiff Central, Birmingham International, Manchester Airport and Holyhead and between Manchester Airport and Llandudno.

Transport for Wales (TfW) say rail replacement transport has been requested to operate between Chester and Rhyl.

On Tuesday (April 25), a person died following reports of a casualty on the tracks at Shotton railway station.

Emergency services were called to the incident at 4.15pm.

Normal service did not resume on the railway lines between Rhyl and Chester until about 9.45pm last night.
