In total, five such vehicles were seen outside Morrisons, on Marsh Road, on the afternoon of April 12.

Unauthorised encampment set up in Rhyl supermarket car park

Eyewitness Luke Burton took the above picture, showing the campervans in the car park.

He added that he also saw “a load of rubbish at the side of them, with cables going everywhere, and clothes in the trees.”

“I saw three people there; they have their cars parked at the side of the campervans,” he said.

“I was there on Monday (April 10) and they weren’t there, so I guess they set up yesterday (April 11).”

Both Denbighshire County Council and Morrisons were made aware of the matter, and the two organisations had been in contact with one another about the matter.

But today (April 19), a Morrisons spokesperson confirmed that "the encampment vacated the car park last Wednesday".

Morrisons declined to comment any further.

Similar unauthorised encampments were set up last summer and in November, including at the Marsh Road recycling centre and by the promenade on East Parade.

Last August, a family of “Travellers” were asked to leave the SC2 water park in Rhyl after entering the premises without paying.
