The eyewitness claimed that a group of children, mostly wearing black, attacked another child of a similar age - around 11 to 13 years old.
The group "squared" up to the child and pushed him to the ground.
It is understood that a group of "five or six" then stood over the youngster and "intimidated" the child who was said to be on the floor crying "covering his face".
Glen Vernon, assistant headteacher at Prestatyn High School, said the eyewitness has been invited to come in to the school to help identify those involved.
Mr Vernon added: “We are continuing our investigations as no names were given initially.”
