Rhuddlan vegan restaurant celebrates after Food Awards Wales success
Rhuddlan café's ‘huge surprise’ at nomination for Vegetarian Restaurant of the Year!
Owner Sara Turner said: “It feels amazing to be nominated again for best café/bistro, and (to have a) first-time nomination for best vegetarian establishment.
“The awards are voted for by customers, which makes it extra special; it makes all the hard work worth it.”
The restaurant, which opened during the COVID-19 pandemic, will look to defend the title of best café/bistro in North Wales, after winning that prize at last year’s Food Awards Wales.
It was also nominated for vegetarian restaurant of the year at the last Welsh Restaurant Awards.
As well as running the bistro, Sara’s business also operates as a vegan/plant-based food delivery service covering Abergele, Kinmel Bay, Rhyl, Prestatyn, St Asaph and Rhuddlan.
Green Island Bistro has also hosted a number of vegan markets since opening.
