A BODY has been found this afternoon (April 13) in the search for a missing woman from Prestatyn.
Ausra Plungiene, 56, had not been seen since taking her dog, Eyora out for a walk on Tuesday morning (April 11) in Snowdonia.
North Wales Police, and colleagues from Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue, made the discovery near to Yr Aryg in the Carneddau mountain range earlier this afternoon.
While formal identification is yet to take place, Ausra’s family have been informed.
Superintendent Owain Llewelyn said: “Our thoughts are with Ausra’s family at this most difficult time. I can confirm that a dog was found alive at the location.
“I would like to offer my thanks to all involved in the search for Ausra, in what have been extremely difficult weather conditions.
“Finally, I would appeal for Ausra’s family to be afforded some privacy during the coming days.”
North Wales Police will not be commenting further, and no further updates will be issued.
A major multi-agency search for Ausra began in the Conwy Valley after the alarm was raised soon after 10pm on Tuesday.
She is believed to have left for a walk at about 10.30am yesterday with her dog, but failed to return home.
Her car was located by officers in the Rowen area during the early hours of yesterday.
