FOOTAGE of bikers on scramblers speeding through ancient woodland behind Abergele’s Gwrych Castle has been uploaded to TikTok.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service has received numerous reports from angry residents and councillors, complaining about motorcyclists riding in the area known as Tan y Gopa Woods, Coed Plas Uchaf Woodland, and other ancient forests.
Residents and landowners say groups of bikers are damaging the forest, starting fires, and causing noise and fumes in the woods, and others fear a serious accident.
The latest TikTok video, which features scrambler bikers performing stunts, has since been taken down.
The video was hash-tagged #wheelies and #yamaha.
A source, who asked to remain anonymous, said police have been informed.
Earlier this week, Conwy County Council Councillor Andrew Wood called the bikers “hooligans”.
Bikers without helmets were also reported to be riding through nearby Old Colwyn.
The woods are owned by the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust, Natural Resources Wales, and other private landowners.
The source added: “There were two TikTok videos of the bikers circulating online taken in Llanddulas and/or Rhyd-y-Foel.
“They’ve since been deleted.
“There were more reports of bikes within the woodlands yesterday evening.”
They added: “A few potential suspects have been passed to the police.”
North Wales Police said earlier this week they were investigating the matter.
Today a police spokeswoman again confirmed they were looking into the matter and urged the public to report incidents.
