SPEED BUMPS that were installed at a Prestatyn shopping park have already been removed, with no update on whether they will be reinstated.

Sets of speed bumps were installed at Parc Prestatyn in an apparent effort to calm traffic, upon a health and safety review by management company Ediston, who took over the site in 2017.

Residents had complained of the ‘horrendous’ and ‘awful’ measures, which posed a hazard to people’s vehicles, with one resident labelling them ‘car destroyers’.

They were removed two or three days after their installation, but it is not known if they will return.

Councillor for the ward Andrea Tomlin said she was not informed of their planned installation and prompt removal, and has written to the management company for more clarity.

She told the Journal: “The Parc Prestatyn land is private and managed by a management company so the planned installation of speed bumps was not communicated to me as a Ward Councillor for the area, nor has it been about their removal or whether they will be reinstated. I do wish it had have been!

“I do now know that complaints to the Parc management company of pedestrian safety concerns in that area resulted in traffic calming measures being deemed necessary, upon a health and safety review.

“High speeds and ignoring of the zebra crossings by drivers there being some reasons cited.

“Nevertheless, I have communicated a range of the comments made about the bumps, since their overnight arrival, to the Parc management company.”

Ediston and Prestatyn Town Council were approached for comment.
