THE three teenagers arrested at a Rhyl hotel in January have pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder of a man in the West Midlands.

The boys, two aged 16 and the other 15 years old, were arrested at Premier Inn, West Parade on the evening of Tuesday, January 31.

Police, including some armed officers, were present at the hotel in Rhyl from about 9.45pm.

On February 3, they were charged with the murder of Bailey Atkinson, 20, who was stabbed on High Street, Walsall in the early hours of January 28.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court today (March 30) the boys all pleaded not guilty to murdering Mr Atkinson.

All of the nine defendants charged with murder pleaded not guilty, and have been remanded in custody.

In the case of the three defendants arrested in Rhyl, each of their representatives said that they all deny being present when Mr Atkinson was attacked.

Mr Atkinson was attacked near the town's Asda supermarket, and later died of his injuries in hospital.

A post-mortem found that Mr Atkinson, from Bloxwich, had died of multiple stab wounds.

The case will resume when a pre-trial review takes place on Friday, June 16.

It is estimated that the trial, which is likely to begin in October, will last eight to 10 weeks.
