WORK to repair a car park entry barrier will take place next week.

It is understood the overhead barrier, on the Westernmost car park on Pensarn promenade, was damaged sometime on Saturday afternoon - between 12pm and 12.30pm.

Cllr Alan Hunter, mayor of Abergele, said: "I was walking on the Promenade Sunday morning and noticed the damage. I passed on the information l received to Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC).

"As the damage had brought the barrier height to under the indicated height, l had concerns that vans or large 4×4 could be damaged if they tried to pass under the barrier so l called the CCBC out of hours team.

"They promptly came out and closed off the entrance and signposted alternative access to the car park."
