A NEW charity shop has been opened on St Asaph’s High Street by a community group based in the city.

Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) welcomed customers to its store for the first time on Saturday (March 18), after its opening was postponed by one week due to the previous weekend's adverse weather.

It is situated next-door to Bill and Ben's DIY store, and is primarily the project of St Asaph resident, Alan Jones, who gave a speech welcoming people to the now-open shop.

Alan said: "So many told me that what I was doing was a great thing for St Asaph, and much-needed - which I loved people saying, I must admit; it made me feel good.

"In my eyes, just as important as the money raised were the conversations had and contacts made - so varied, but every single one positive in its own way."

The ribbon-cutting to mark the opening was handed to "community champion" Margaret Wainwright.

She was one of four women in attendance to receive a bouquet of flowers and a certificate, along with fellow "community champions" Barbara Rust, Mair Dowell and Barbra Davies, all of whom live in St Asaph.
