A MAN from Rhyl was spared jail after being convicted of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

Mark Weaver, 34, of Warren Road, was handed a suspended sentence at Mold Crown Court today (March 14).

The court heard that, on June 18, 2021 in Rhyl, Weaver was found with three bags of drugs in his possession.

Of those, two bags contained 60 and 88 grams of cannabis, while the third was a resealable bag with 0.37g of cocaine inside it.

An iPhone was also seized from Weaver, and its contents was found to confirm Weaver’s involvement in the dealing of such drugs.

Later in 2021, Weaver was said to have completed a community order for an offence which pre-dated these two counts of drug-dealing.

Judge Niclas Parry sentenced Weaver to eight months’ imprisonment, suspended for one year.

In addition, Weaver is to complete 15 sessions of rehabilitation activity, and pay a statutory surcharge.

He told Weaver: “You were bang at it – there was a lot of drugs, and the phone confirms it. That’s why it’s custody.

“All of these relate to that matter for which you were given a community order in 2021, which you completed.

“It looks as if you’re turning your life around. This has been hanging over you; that’s been the punishment.

“You’ve got people you are responsible for now… don’t reoffend in the next 12 months, otherwise it (suspended sentence) kicks in.”

Judge Parry ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the cannabis and cocaine, and the deprivation of the iPhone.
