A HAIRDRESSERS and wig salon that supports patients having to cope with hair loss is up for a prestigious St David Award.

Morgan’s Wigs, owned by Rebecca Morgan, is a wig service for patients undergoing hair loss from alopecia, chemotherapy treatment and other medical hair loss conditions.

The service, located in Prestatyn and Chester, has gone from strength to strength changing the way the hair loss wig service is for men, women and children in North Wales and England.

Morgan's has been nominated in the Business award category.

A summary into the nomination says: "Working with the NHS and charities to help cancer patients and children suffering hair loss, Morgan’s Wigs go above and beyond to make their clients feel comfortable during this difficult time.

"During the covid pandemic, Rebecca ensured the service was available with video consultations being carried day and night for those suffering hair loss as a result of covid, stress and cancer treatment. Rebecca also provided counselling and support to those affected and delivered wigs to patients having to assess their fittings through the windows of their homes.

"For clients who had lost their hair, eyebrows and lashes, Rebecca continued to support them with skin care and make advice and fought hard to get the service back up and running as soon as possible."

Rebecca told the Journal: "We are absolutely thrilled and delighted to be nominated for a St David Award and then find out today in Cardiff that we are finalists. We are absolutely thrilled to be able to represent Prestatyn with this accolade and the nomination has just been fantastic in itself. We are so proud for the recognition for all the hard work our staff put into making sure we give the best service to people that are facing hair loss including men, women and children.

"This is our 10th year of Morgan's and in our 10th year we have been recognised in Wales by Mark Drakeford [First Minister of Wales]

"A nominations lunch was held at the Senedd in Cardiff where Mr Drakeford announced that Morgan’s Wigs were one of the finalists. Unfortunately we couldn't attend but my assistant manager Sylvia Armstrong, a hair loss specialist, attended and represented us."
