A NEW charity shop is due to open on St Asaph’s High Street.

Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) will welcome customers to its store for the first time on Saturday (March 11).

It will be situated next-door to Bill and Ben's DIY store, and is primarily the project of St Asaph resident, Alan Jones.

RAK has been operating as a community group in the area for five years now, but Alan is delighted and excited to be opening its own base in a prominent part of St Asaph.

He said: “We started RAK 5 years ago, but have never had a shop, or anything like this, before. We used to do clothes giveaways, which has kind of expanded into having the shop.

“We had so much stuff that we just thought it’d be best to have a shop for it, open every day, rather than just the odd Saturday morning.

“We’ve had lots of donations, so although the shop’s of reasonable size, it’ll still be pretty full - mainly of clothes, but there are also toys, DVDs, CDs, bric-a-brac, and we’re open to selling things like furniture and electrical goods, too.

“It’s been a massive process – we took over the premises on January 1 and have painted it, rebuilt the shelves, and put carpets down, just to make it all look a lot better.”

A cake sale will be held on the shop’s opening day, with proceeds to be donated to the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal.

Alan will also be taking part in a “sleepout”, sleeping rough for charity, the night before.

More information can be found by joining RAK’s Facebook group, which boasts more than 1,000 members.
