THE POST Office is proposing a move for its Rhyl branch, with plans to open daily and for more hours at the desired new site.
The Rhyl Post Office at 32-34 High Street is currently operated on the company’s behalf by a temporary postmaster, and they are proposing a move to the Rhyl Mini Market at 11 Bodfor Street.
The move would “safeguard” key services, with the larger site housing two counters to add to the convenience store’s counter.
The new site would see the branch remain open until at least 7pm each night, and opening hours from Monday to Saturday would be 8am – 8pm, and 10am – 7pm on Sundays.

This amounts to 35 hours more per week, with 81 hours of service each week.
A Post Office spokesperson said: “Rhyl Post Office at 32-34 High Street is currently operated on our behalf by a temporary postmaster.
“Whilst this has enabled us to maintain Post Office services to our customers in the area, we have now identified this alternative location to continue to offer Post Office services with a permanent operator, safeguarding services in the long run.
“We are confident that introducing a local style branch alongside a successful retail store is the most effective way to safeguard sustainable Post Office services in the local community into the future.
“There would be two Post Office counters alongside the convenience store’s retail counter.
“The opening hours would be Monday to Saturday: 8am – 8pm; Sunday: 10am – 7pm.
“This would mean that the branch would open daily and with longer hours including all-day Sunday, earlier opening and later closing. The branch would open an extra 35 hours a week.”
An online consultation is already open, and feedback can be given until April 12.
Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 664614.
